Chungcheong-do is Korea's central region with an active international airport. The region is known for its relaxed pace of life, which is even reflected in the local dialect.

Northern Chungcheong (Chungcheongbuk-do) is the only region in Korea without access to the sea. Instead, it is famous for canyons, lakes, and scenic mountain passes, including Dodamsambong Peaks, Chungjuho, and Maltijae Observatory.

Southern Chungcheong (Chungcheongnam-do) is home to research and administrative cities, as well as historic, culinary and coastal sites. Gongju, a former Baekje Kingdom capital (475–538 CE), hosts UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Gongsanseong Fortress and the Tomb of King Muryeong. Further west, the Taean coastline area has Mongsanpo Mudflat, a popular spot for beginner-friendly clam digging, while Daecheon Beach in Boryeong has an annual Mud Festival and a ziptrek over the sea.
